Lot's Wife

Why would you want to watch the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah?

Like Lot's wife, you'll die.

We can use it as an metaphor:

Don't turn back and look at your sins when God has provided forgiveness.

Lot looked forward at God's mercy and grace; his wife looked back at sin and judgment.

Why did she look back?

Was it with longing for her home or simple reluctance to let go of the sin?

In the Apocrypha Book of Wisdom it states that it was her lack of faith.

Wisdom 10:7(Good News Translation)

"7 You can still see the evidence of their wickedness. The land there is barren and

smoking. The plants bear fruit that never ripens, and a pillar of salt stands as a

monument to one who did not believe."

The one who did not believe… that is why she looked back~ she did not believe the warning

of the angels; she did not believe in God's Mercy for herself and her family nor the

Judgment for sin.

"Remember what happened to Lot's wife! If you grasp and cling to life on your terms,

you'll lose it, but if you let that life go, you'll get life on God's terms." Luke 17:32-33

She could not let her life go.

Don't turn your back on the forgiveness God gives you through His Son, Jesus' death and

the new life in His resurrection!

How dare you not forgive yourself when Christ has paid for your sin with His precious

blood?

To turn back and look on your sin and dwell on its' wretchedness does have a parallel to

Lot's wife looking back to Sodom.

Refusing the forgiveness and grace offered though Christ Jesus is stating that His life

was not worth the cost of covering not only all of your sins but the entire world's

history of mankind.

Every single human being who ever lived since Adam and Eve till the Last Day~ Jesus, Son

of God and Son of Man, paid the price for all!

Let go of your life, your sin, your pain, your need to be in control. Let that life go,

cling to God and the forgiveness in Christ and you'll get life on God's terms.

John 14: 6 "Jesus answered him,

I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me.

19…because I live, you also will live."

Hebrews 10:39 Amplified Bible

"But our way is not that of those who draw back to eternal misery (perdition) and are

utterly destroyed, but we are of those who believe [who cleave to and trust in and rely

on God through Jesus Christ, the Messiah] and by faith preserve the soul."

We should never take other writings and think they are Godly if not in the Bible. Too risky, other than that, this is wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this and spreading faith. I, especially needed this. I have a tough time with this because I regret and hate my past so much, but I know this is confirmation from God since He told me never to look back. Not just the desires of the sinful nature, but into a past that is hard for ourselves to forgive, forgiving ourselves and the past we are trying to recreate with the Lord's help. When we look back, we shrink, we become fearful, feeling insecure and inferior, doubting what He promises to us! We should never look at where we were, but look forward, focusing on Him. When Peter took His eyes off the Lord, what happened? Even though it was a moment's glance He almost drowned, but the Lord reached in and saved Him. We can rely on Him. He is our strength and our protector. If we only have faith in Him, we can continue to stay saved. Father is so beautiful and He does not want us to suffer anymore. If we look back at our suffering, even in a moment of self pity, we will stumble, we will fall, lose hope, forget our focus, forget our Everlasting Promise, forget who we are and where our home really lies. If we look back at our suffering He died in vain. What good is dying to protect someone from hurt, self destruction, sin, ourselves and all evil if we look back or go back into that sinful nature again? It would shame His good name and maybe even rob our salvation. I don't think it is worth letting that happen. Thank you for the wonderful reminder! I pray God showers His love and peace and blessings to you!
